Benefits of Membership — Georgia Builders
As a builder, you know how tough it is to make a living these days. Not only do you have the usual business challenges of managing workers and suppliers, attracting buyers and keeping the books straight, but you have to keep up with the latest codes and regulations from federal, state and local authorities. You've got to be on the job site every day, not sitting in the office researching the government's latest rules. How do you stay up-to-date, grow your business and still have time for your family?
A big part of the answer is to join your home builders association. Your association has an organization in place to keep you informed on the latest regulations and trends in the housing industry, give you ideas on how to expand your business and make your voice heard in Washington and Atlanta. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in educational and recreational programs where you can exchange ideas with other builders while relaxing "away from the office".
Sound good? To learn more about all the opportunities the home builders association has to offer, take a look around our Web site or use our HBA Locator to find the local association near you. And who knows - you might just find you have more time to go fishing after all!
HBAG Publications
Among the most visible benefits of membership are our publications. Knowledge is your best defense in this rapidly-changing industry! Members receive free subscriptions to National publications like Nation's Building News and Builder Magazine, HBAG produced publications (see below) and local association newsletters. You'll also gain access to a HBAG's member's only Web site, choose from a variety of other magazines and newsletters that cover specific industry segments and interests and earn a 20% member discount on all books and tapes available through NAHB's Home Builder Bookstore. HBAG's Publications are distributed exclusively to Georgia Home Builder Association members:

Government Affairs Committee
The Home Builders Association of Georgia has a full-time lobbyist on staff looking out for your interests at the state capital. Suzanne Williams has over a decade of lobbying experience and is one of the most respected lobbyists in the state.
Our Government Affairs Committee meets weekly while the Georgia General Assembly is in session, but monitors legislative activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. One important aspect of our Government Affairs initiative is our Builders Political Action Committee. This group raises funds and disperses contributions to candidates for offices ranging from local school boards to Congress.
For more information about the Government Affairs Committee, please contact Suzanne Williams.
Regulatory Affairs Committee
The Regulatory Affairs Committee is committed to keeping HBAG members updated on the latest code and municipal regulations in the state of Georgia. The committee provides resources for ensuring that you comply with the many regulations that affect Georgia’s Home Builders, including NPDES Permits, Impact Fees, Septic Tanks, Lot Sizes, Tree Ordinances, Building Permits, Land Use, Zoning, Local Code Amendments and much more.
In addition to printed and Web documentation, dedicated staff members provide support for members wrestling with regulatory issues. We can't make these requirements go away, but we can make it easier for you to understand and comply with these rules.
